The British citizen’s death was “confirmed on the spot by a health delegate” and the victim’s body was later taken to the medico-legal and forensic office of Funchal.
The local command of the Marine Police of Funchal took responsibility for the incident, and the psychological department of the Marine Police was activated and is providing support to the victim’s family, the statement said.
