The Benfica-Farense police operation on Friday evening at the Estádio da Luz stadium went smoothly. However, it discovered CM, PSP retained reinforcements in case the challenge to Roger Schmidt intensified. This is exactly what happened with the final draw.
The second part involved the prevention and immediate response teams of the Lisbon Command. These are armed operatives who ride on motorcycles and provide intimidation to potential rioters. Six agents arrived on three motorcycles, but no arrests were made.
However, the PSP decisively intervened immediately after the game ended. An incursion by a group of about 20 supporters into the garages usually used to house Benfica’s vehicles resulted in officers entering with batons in their hands. There were no arrests and no damage or injuries were reported. However, the PSP submitted 7 messages (information messages) to the court. In addition to the invasion of protected areas, the PSP identified crimes related to the use of pyrotechnics and theft.
