Estrela da Amadora and Estoril Praia return to triumph. Boavista deepens crisis

Estrela da Amadora and Estoril Praia returned to their Portuguese First Football League triumphs on Sunday in a 13th round that extended Boavista’s performance slump.

In Reboleira, Estrela da Amadora compounded Boavista’s bad luck – five straight defeats in an eight-game run without ever tasting the championship – by beating the Checkers 3-1.

The Tricolors opened up the lead through Leo Haba in the 52nd minute and still received an immediate response from Petit’s team through Martim Tavares (75), but the reaction of the team led by Sergio Vieira was worth the victory: goals from Abascal (78) in his own net and Kikas (84).

Estrela, who have not won in three rounds, moved up to ninth place with 15 points, level with Boavista, who are now in 10th place.

Estoril Praia once again showed excellent momentum and easily recorded another home win, beating Desportivo de Chavez 4-0 at home.

Portugal under-21 international Rodrigo Gomez scored twice with goals in the sixth and 61st minutes, Venezuelan Alejandro Marques increased the margin in the 70th and Heriberto recorded the final score of 90+2.

The team led by Vasco Cibra is provisionally in 12th place with 13 points, three more than the Flavienses, who have dropped to 18th and last place in the league.

In Arouca, in Sunday’s other “unfortunate” game, Rio Ave went into the break leading 2-0 but the hosts equalized with two second-half goals.

Goals from Aderlan Santos in the fifth minute and Boateng (29) were answered by Cristo Gonzalez in the 50th minute and Jason in the 62nd.

Arouca are in 16th place with 10 points, while Vila do Conde, who recorded their third draw in a row, are in 15th with 11 points.

The seventh round of the First League will end on Monday with the meeting between Gil Vicente (14th place) and Moreirense (sixth place).

The championship is led by Sporting, tied on points (31) with Porto, which they host in the next round, in which Benfica, third, with 30, plays Sporting de Braga, fourth, with 29 .
