The Food and Economic Security Authority (ASAE) announced this Wednesday that it has intercepted an illegal distributor of slot machines and seized materials with an estimated value of 11 thousand euros in the municipality of Ferreira do Alentejo (Beja).
In a statement, ASAE explained that last week it carried out a crime prevention operation, several inspection activities aimed at combating illegal gambling in this municipality of Alentejo, through the Southern Regional Unit – Operational Unit of Évora.
A total of “five economic operators” were inspected, including an “illegal distributor of slot machines,” the report said.
ASAE says it searched a vehicle outside the country, seizing 20 pieces of illegal gambling equipment, a technology device for synchronizing and digitally developing online games, and various documentation.
In addition, during this action, illegal class “E” weapons were seized and two individuals were identified against whom criminal charges were filed for possession of prohibited weapons and gambling outside of legally permitted places.
ASAE also guarantees that it will continue to develop measures to combat and suppress throughout the country the “scourge of illegal gambling and related crimes”, combating and trying to alleviate the resulting social problems.
