According to the statement, the CTT Workers’ Committee (CT) is threatening to resort to legal means due to changes in the company’s Social Work Regulations, which has also led to a partial strike that will last until December 22.
In a note published this Friday by CT, the organization stated that it “opposes the changes to the IOS – Social Work Regulations, made unilaterally by the administration and contrary to the obligations of the general agreement of the parties involved in the negotiations.” , that is, trade unions and workers’ committees, “to approve any modification of this regulation.”
According to the organization, STT’s social work “is intended to support all permanent employees, their families and pensioners in the event of illness, old age and accidents through the payment of a monthly fee and supplements to contributions for medical and care services.”
CT believes that “the foundations and values that gave shape” and “the content of the spirit of an institution whose intergenerational solidarity has never been questioned, and CTT’s responsibility to preserve and improve” have been undermined.
“If the objectives of the TTT are achieved, all over 35,000 beneficiaries will see a significant reduction in their meager income from work, benefits and pensions, which will have detrimental consequences for their family life,” he stressed, assuring that “the rights set out in the Decree will be violated on the social work of STT,” the Workers’ Committee has no choice but to “resort to available legal means to prevent the achievement of the goals of the STT administration.”
The Independent Union of Posts, Telecommunications, Transport and Express of Portugal called for a partial general strike in the CTT until December 22, also due to the administration’s “unilateral decision” to denounce the Social Works Regulation.
Samuel Vieira, the union’s president, said the partial strike would occur at different times in different services. The union has 300 members.
The strike followed the “unilateral decision” of the company management to denounce the Social Work Regulations, increasing the monthly quota and contributions for medical procedures performed by beneficiaries of the health insurance plan, explained Samuel Vieira in a conversation with Lusa on Wednesday.
