Portugal will retain nine international referees in 2024 for a total of 38, the same number as in 2023 when it reached that record number, the Council of Arbitration (CA) of the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) said on Friday.
Claudio Pereira, 36, has been promoted to international level to the detriment of Vitor Ferreira, who has been relegated to the second category, the only change to a list of chief referees that also includes Arthur Soares Dias, Joao Pinheiro, Thiago Martins, Fabio Verissimo, Luis Godinho, Antonio Nobre, Gustavo Correia and Miguel Nogueira.
The only change in the list of assistant referees was the departure of Andre Campos and the arrival of Nelson Pereira, while in the list of video referees (VARs) their number increased to 11 with the arrival of Antonio Nobre, who returns after a year’s absence of Gustavo Correia and Catarina Correia.
In the women’s sector, the list of main judges remains unchanged: Sandrine Santos is promoted to assistants after the departure of Olga Almeida.
The list of international futsal referees is also unchanged, with Gustavo Pereira promoted to beach soccer, replacing Sergio Guello.
