Fifteen arrests and more than 2,600 drug doses seized are the result of a GNR operation carried out this Sunday in the municipalities of Seixal, Sesimbra and Sines in the district of Setúbal, security forces said.
In a statement sent to Lusa, the Setubal Territorial Command of the People’s Republic of China indicated that the operation carried out this morning included several checks of people, vehicles and commercial establishments.
In total, according to the State Police, more than 300 people, hundreds of vehicles and eight commercial enterprises were checked.
Troopers arrested 15 men ranging in age from 19 to 60, six for drunk driving, five for lack of legal driving privileges, one for possession of a prohibited weapon and drug trafficking, two more for drug trafficking and one for resisting and coercion. he added.
In addition to the arrests, the GNR highlighted that 2,550 doses of heroin, 62 doses of hashish, 46 doses of MDMA, eight doses of marijuana, five doses of cocaine, firearms and 12 vehicles were seized during the operation.
In the field of traffic supervision, the Guard drew up 96 reports on administrative offenses, of which 44 were related to driving while intoxicated.
Nine protocols on administrative offenses for possession and use of drugs were also drawn up.
Of the arrests made, the GNR highlighted the case of a man who was detained for possession of a prohibited weapon and drug trafficking and was detained by the Guard until he was brought before the Almada Judicial Court.
The remaining criminal facts were transferred to the judicial courts of Almada and Sesimbra.
In this operation, according to the GNR, 140 soldiers were involved from the territorial, traffic, intervention and criminal investigations department of the Setúbal Territorial Command, as well as the commands of Évora, Lisbon and Portalegre and several Guard units.
