The Porto Prosecutor’s Office (PGRP) has accused a man of committing domestic violence against his 72-year-old mother, with whom he lived in Esposende, Braga district, the Porto Prosecutor General’s Office (PGRP) said on Thursday.
A note published on the PGPR website states that by a resolution dated November 30, the people’s deputy charged the defendant with committing a crime of domestic violence, aggravated by recidivism.
The deputy considered that the accused, starting in June 2023, worsened the behavior that he had already maintained since 1994 towards his mother, born in 1951, during the periods when he lived with her in Foriães, Esposende, “almost daily insulting the house where they both lived, and demanded that she hand over sums of money under pain of punishment, otherwise she would be beaten.”
According to investigators, one night the victim even slept near his house because of the behavior of the defendant, who threatened to “break everything.”
The deputy also states that in another situation, a mother had to seek refuge in a commercial establishment due to the behavior of the defendant, who shouted insults at her because dinner was not yet ready.
The defendant awaits the progress of the trial, taking into account the preventive detention measure.
