Former Portuguese international Paulo Alves was announced this Friday as the new coach of Lugo, who will lead the Galician club in the Spanish third division until the end of the season.
“Experience, method and extensive knowledge are among the guarantees of his offer. Among his successes are two promotions to the Portuguese first division with Gil Vicente and Moreirense, as well as a second place in the Portuguese League Cup,” praises CD Lugo.
Paulo Alves, who will bring his technical team with him, will replace Pedro Munitis, who has won just one of his last four games, leaving the team in eighth place with 26 points, nine behind leaders Celta de Vigo B.
This will be Paulo Alves’ third overseas experience after managing Iranian teams Nassaji Mazandaran and Ohod from Saudi Arabia.
As a footballer, Paulo Alves stood out for, among others, Sporting CP, Sporting Braga and the English club West Ham.
