Twenty countries are sent on mission to fight the Houthis

More than 20 countries have already joined Operation Prosperity Sentinel, launched by the United States to combat attacks by Yemen’s Houthi rebels on ships in the Red Sea. “To date, more than 20 countries have pledged to participate.

In the coming days, the United States will continue to consult closely with allies and partners who share the fundamental principle of freedom of navigation, and we look forward to the coalition continuing to grow,” Pentagon spokesman Pat Ryder said.

The UK, Bahrain, Canada, France, Italy, the Netherlands and Spain are just some of the countries that will take part in the international mission. Having consolidated control over northern Gaza, Israel is concentrating its military efforts in the south, in Khan Yunis, a city considered a Hamas stronghold.

Israel says it has destroyed access to dozens of tunnels and killed the group’s commanders. An Israeli general was also killed in the battle, the highest rank of the 139 Israeli soldiers killed in the offensive.
