Juventus fined 15 points due to financial violations

Juventus have just been penalized with a 15 point deduction from the Serie A table, which will be applied to this season’s table, due to financial irregularities in player transfers. This decision was taken by the Federal Court of Appeal, which even went far beyond request made by the Italian Football Federationwhich required subtracting 9 points.

A controversial point in this process is the suspicion that the cost of transfers would be inflated in order to increase the club’s income. This practice would have been found in the 2019, 2020 and 2021 reports, allowing the club not only to reduce the reported losses, but also to guarantee market advantages.

In addition to the sanctions imposed on Juventus, which are still subject to appeal, the Federal Court also sentenced Fabio Paratici to a two and a half year suspension, two years to Andrea Agnelli and Maurizio Arrivabene, one year and four months to Federico Cherubini and eight months Pavel Nedved. According to the court decision, UEFA and FIFA will also be asked to take over these suspensions, which will mean that, for example, Fabio Paratici will not be able to work at Tottenham (his current club).

With this sanction, Juventus moved from 3rd place with 37 points to 11th with 22 points.
