A nine-year-old Englishman received a reward: he was abused by his parents, had his legs amputated and created a fund to help children

Tony Hudgell is nine years old and this Saturday he became the youngest person ever to receive the New Year’s award of the British Empire Medal (BEM). BBC.

A British child has received an award for his services to the fight against child abuse. Tony has no lower limbs, which were amputated due to injuries caused by aggression from his biological parents.

In 2018, the parents were sentenced to 10 years in prison. Since then, the minor has raised almost two million euros for the fund he created to support abused children.

Tony’s adoptive mother said her son was “proud and excited” when he found out he would receive the award.

“He doesn’t want other children to suffer like he did. I’m very proud of him, it’s a wonderful legacy,” she admitted.

A woman has led a successful campaign demanding harsher penalties for child abusers.
