The Portuguese passenger electric vehicle market more than doubled in 2023, registering 36,390 new units, ACAP – Associação Automóvel de Portugal reported this Wednesday.
Between January and December, 36,390 passenger electric vehicles (BEVs), that is, those powered by a battery charged from the electrical grid, were registered, an increase of 101.9% over the same period in 2022.
There were 2,448 BEVs in the electrified light goods market, up 140.9% year-on-year.
The number of heavy-duty electric vehicles (BEVs) has increased sixfold (523.4%) since the beginning of the year, amounting to 399 units.
In 2023, the total of these three markets, which also covers rechargeable electric vehicles (ECVs), plug-in hybrids (PHEVs) and electric hybrids (HEVs), increased by 60.4% to 95,253 vehicles.
