Portuguese international Cristiano Ronaldo has received the Maradona Award, the Globe Soccer Awards announced this Thursday. The award is given to the top scorer of the 2023 calendar year. With 54 goals in 59 matches, the Al-Nasr striker surpassed the 52 goals of the Frenchman Kylian Mbappe, the 52 goals of the Englishman Harry Kane and the 50 goals of the Norwegian Erling Haaland.
In a post on Instagram, the Globe Soccer Awards highlighted that Cristiano Ronaldo’s personal best in 2023 is his best since 2017, when he scored 53 goals for Real Madrid.
The footballer has been nominated for the “Best Player of the Year” and “Best Eleven Players of 2023” awards from the World Union of Professional Footballers (FIFPro).
