Callum Hudson-Odoi, the English striker for Nottingham Forest, denies any involvement in the case in which Jeffrey Epstein is accused of sex trafficking.
Years after the death of the North American tycoon, this case continues to cause controversy and reveal new contours. This Thursday newspaper New York Times released some of the names mentioned in the trial, including England’s Prince Andrew and former US presidents Bill Clinton and Donald Trump.
Footballer Callum Hudson-Odoi is not a direct target, but rumors have emerged that he was on Jeffrey Epstein’s private island in the US Virgin Islands. According to the newspaper IndependentThe Virgin Islands Attorney General’s complaint against the tycoon described the location as “an ideal haven for the trafficking of young women and underage girls for sexual slavery, child abuse and sexual assault.”
There were several celebrities on the island, but Callum Hudson-Odoi explained that “he was a child at the time” in a post on the social networking site Instragram. “This has been circulating on social media for a while now and I wasn’t going to comment because it’s absurd. (…) But given that I am a role model for many people, I would like to make it absolutely clear that I was never involved in a scandal and was not on the island,” explained the English footballer.
Epstein case
In 2005, Florida police arrested Jeffrey Epstein on suspicion of paying a 14-year-old girl for sex. Dozens of other minors described similar abuses, but in 2008 prosecutors allowed the tycoon to plead guilty to the single-victim charge. The convict served 13 months under the freedom to work program.
As more details and allegations emerged in July 2019, Jeffrey Epstein was arrested. A month later he was found dead at the age of 66 in his cell while awaiting trial. The death was ruled a suicide.
