League without TV rights buyer

The Club League has already received three proposals to centralize television rights. However, as the Record newspaper reported yesterday, none of them actually purchases broadcasts of professional league games.

Two of the above proposals are to enter the capital of the Portuguese League Centralized (LPC). These organizations intend to acquire a stake in the company, created in 2021 (when the government legally determined that centralization will be mandatory from 2028/29), to then assist in the process of selling the rights themselves to third parties, retaining a percentage of the cost that is charged.

CVC Capital Partners, which already has a partnership with the Spanish league, is paying between €250 million and €350 million for 9% of the LPC. Quadrantis offers €500 million for 20% LPC. CVC does not specify what percentage of the rights sale it will require; Quadrantis will be entitled to a fifth, meaning only 80% will go to the clubs.

The third offer from BCG Nomura is for advisory services only throughout the television rights exploration process.
