The Super Bowl final became the most watched program of the year

In 2023, football once again dominated the table of programs with the highest audiences, occupying the top 29 places on the list of most watched. Ahead is the final of the Supertaça Cândido Oliveira, which took place on August 9 in Aveiro. An average of 2.37 million viewers watched Benfica’s 2-0 win over Porto on RTP 1.

The podium is completed by two games of the Euro 2024 qualifying team, also on RTP 1: the first, against Luxembourg, attracted an audience of 2.31 million viewers, and the second, against Liechtenstein, attracted 2.25 million viewers.

4th and 5th places are occupied by Benfica’s games with Inter Milan in the Champions League, both broadcast on TVI. This is followed by four more Euro 2024 qualifying matches, all at RTP 1.

In 10th place, SIC makes its first appearance with the Europa League match between Sporting and Juventus.

The first non-sports program to make the list of most watched in 2023 was TVI’s “Jornal Nacional” (30th), broadcast on April 19, with an average audience of 1.358 million viewers. Next in 32nd place is “Isto é Gozar com Quem Trabalha,” shown by SIC on March 5 (1.338 million), and “O Triângulo” premiered (34th) on February 26 on TVI, averaging 1.271 viewers. million.
