Unsatisfied with the end of the relationship, the 42-year-old man stalked his ex-partner, a resident of a village in the municipality of Peniche. He allegedly made “death threats” following “other violent acts of a verbal and physical nature previously directed at the victim,” the most serious of which involved shotgun blasts, and was arrested on Thursday, according to judicial police.
Nine shotguns and 125 rounds of various calibers were found in the detainee’s possession. One of the guns was used to fire “several shots” which he suspects was fired on the night of November 6, 2023, “at the home of his ex-partner, where she was with their minor daughter.” as well as in relation to equipment belonging to the property and a vehicle, which caused significant damage,” the SP said on Friday.
Following the victim’s complaints, an investigation was conducted under the direction of Peniche’s Department of Investigations and Criminal Investigations, which resulted in the execution of three search warrants and an arrest warrant for the suspect. The man attended his first judicial interview in a Leiria court while remaining free under a coercive measure prohibiting him from approaching his ex-wife during criminal proceedings.
