Francisco Assis warns that the Socialist Party must campaign for positive reasons, not resentment

Former PS parliamentary leader Francisco Assis warned this Saturday that the Socialists must face the next legislative elections with positive proposals, turn the page on the past and reject a campaign based on fear and resentment.

This position was defended by the current President of the Economic and Social Council in his speech to the 24th National Congress of the PC, which will last until Sunday at the Lisbon International Fair.

According to the “number one” on the single list vying for the post of the PS National Commission, the country is at a “decisive” stage: legislative elections are two months away and the socialists are presented with a “complicated picture”.

“The PS must take a positive approach to these elections, proposing concrete measures to the country with complete clarity. Let us resist the temptation to run a campaign based on fear or resentment of any kind. Even if this fear is legitimate, even if this indignation may have some reason,” stressed Francisco Assis.

In the final part of his speech, the former socialist parliamentary leader returned to this topic, expressing confidence that the PS will win the legislative elections on March 10 “by a significant margin.”

“We will win them because we will not exploit fear, we will not exploit resentment. We will not win elections in the name of extending something, and we will not win elections in the name of a past that we are proud of. We will win the elections based on the future that we can create together,” he countered.
