“The Portuguese will have to choose a new government, and it will certainly be a PSD government that will lead the country to new economic and social development,” Pinto Luz said.

The parliamentary leader of the Liberal Initiative (IL), Rodrigo Saraiva, believed that a significant part of Pedro Nuno Santos’ speech suggested that the former ruler “does not bear any responsibility for the situation in the country.”

“But the Portuguese know that Pedro Nuno Santos has been the ruler for the last eight years and he has a great responsibility. The centrist also accused the PS of clashing with the president of the republic, “discrediting democratic institutions” and demeaning public services.
