“I lost my fear, injustice made me take courage. If we don’t do anything, everything will remain the same or worse.” Pedro Costa, PSP agent in Lisbon for 5 years, has been on duty at the Assembly of the Republic since Sunday evening demanding better wages and working conditions.
About 200 colleagues joined him. On Monday afternoon, patrol cars were declared inoperative in a show of solidarity in Greater Lisbon, Setubal, Porto and Santarem.
The PSP computer system has crashed. Pedro Costa, who presented ideas to increase salaries and equalize the joint venture’s allowances, has been absent from work due to protest and risks disciplinary proceedings.
The National Directorate of PSP only stated that “the situation is under control.”
