The Viseu court sentenced this Friday a 47-year-old Ukrainian citizen convicted of the murder of a man of Russian nationality on May 5, 2002 in Viseu, and for two other crimes of attempted murder.
Sergei Uvarov’s defense will appeal this decision. The man must also pay compensation in the amount of 20 thousand euros to the mother of the Russian man he killed.
Sergei Uvarov was accused of murder, the victim of which was Russian David Ilyutchenko, identified as a link between the illegal immigration mafia. He was also accused of two attempted murders for allegedly inflicting bodily harm on Ukrainians Valeriy Bigvava and Igor Garkucha.
According to Sergei, the death of David Ilyutchenko occurred the day after the Russian instructed him, Boris Nikandrov and Roman Lysenko to wait at a bus stop for someone from a construction company who would provide them with work and housing.
When no one showed up, he and Boris called David, who first told them to wait and then turned off his mobile phone. As a result, all three spent the night near the cemetery “without money, without water and without food” and were only able to return home by bus the next morning, he added.
According to Sergei, Boris was beaten because he confronted David with the fact that the three of them paid him money to get them to work and did not fulfill what was agreed upon. David later also hit him when he was looking for his mobile phone to ask for help for his friend.
Sergey said he paid 300 euros to a “travel agency” in Ukraine, and then another 480 euros to David, who would be responsible for solving “all issues” in Portugal. Of the money he brought to Portugal, he only had about 50 euros.
