Sports fan Nuno Santos saw Brazilian Guilherme Madruga of Botafogo de Sao Paulo win the Puskás Award this Monday at the FIFA Best Gala in London.
The Leonin defender’s superb goal against Boavista in 2022/23 was not enough to overcome the Canarinho man, who scored with a bicycle kick from outside the area against Novorizontino.
Paraguayan Julio Enciso from Brighton, who struck from outside the penalty area against Manchester City, was another player in contention for the award.
“A unique day in my life. He is certainly marked in my history and also in my memory. First of all, I would like to thank God because without him everything I am going through would not be possible. I dedicate it to my family, especially my parents who are in Brazil,” said Guilherme Madruga after receiving the award.
