Mourinho has already received 94 million euros from layoffs

Released by Roma, Jose Mourinho now has €94 million in compensation after being sacked by five clubs during his career.

The calculations were carried out by the Daily Mail newspaper. Between Chelsea (twice), Real Madrid, Manchester United, Tottenham and Roma, the Portuguese manager received compensation of £80.9 million (€94 million at Tuesday’s exchange rate according to the Bank of Portugal) for early termination of the contract.

This quintet now has a majority over the four clubs from which Mourinho, head coach since 2000, left on his own. He left Benfica midway through the 2000–01 season as Manuel Vilarinho did not renew his contract for another season. He then left Leiria, Porto and Inter Milan to pursue other projects.

The early end of his tenure at Roma reinforces a negative trend in the Portuguese manager’s career since Inter: the Italian club was the last to end his contract in 2010. In June 2013, Mou left Real Madrid, who had been linked to him until 2016. He left Chelsea and Manchester United midway through his third season. He spent only a year and a half at Tottenham.

Mourinho, who won the Conference League (2021/22) with Roma and had a contract until June, retained the support of the fans, but the club’s owners (North American Friedkin) were unhappy with the coach’s criticism of the referees and the fall in the Italian championship (Roma 9th place, five points from a place in the Champions League). Daniele De Rossi is next.

“Sweat, Blood, Tears, Eternity”
“Sweat, blood, tears, joy, sadness, love, brothers, history, heart, eternity,” Jose Mourinho wrote on social media on Tuesday, posting several photos of his best moments as Roma coach (68 wins, 31 draws) ).
39 defeats in 138 games).
