Hamas soldier kills and beheads Israeli soldier Adir Takhar, 19 years old, during the fighting in the Gaza Strip on October 7. He later tried to sell the severed head, the soldier’s father, David Takhar, said in a statement quoted by the newspaper this Thursday. Times of Israel.
Adir Takhar was at a military base near the border with the Gaza Strip along with other members of the Golani Brigade. A group of Hamas militants bombarded the area with grenades and rockets. Since the soldier was already dead, one of the Islamic group’s soldiers cut off his head and transported it to Gaza.
Identifiers, DNA tests and personal items in Adir Takhar’s pockets led to the identification of the body. David Takhar spent two months trying to figure out where his son’s head was.
In December, two Hamas operatives captured by Israeli forces and interrogated by security services said one of them had put Adir Takhar’s head up for sale for around 9,000 euros, including details of its whereabouts. “This is insane barbarism,” my father lamented.
An elite unit of the Israeli army found a severed head with signs of further violence in a bag in the freezer of an ice cream shop. Adir Takhar’s family buried the soldier’s head, and the father received “peace.”
According to the latest data provided by the Israeli authorities, Hamas attacks in the Gaza Strip on October 7 killed more than 1,200 people.
