This Thursday afternoon, several members of Monica Silva’s family went to a flower shop owned by the mother of Fernando Valente – the main suspect in the death of a seven-month pregnant woman – in the center of Murtosa.
Philomena, the aunt of the 33-year-old woman whose body was never found yesterday, was the first to arrive. Family members entered the flower shop and encountered the suspect’s mother around 3:10 p.m. There were screams. Several items were broken. GNR soldiers quickly arrived and identified at least two people. Members of Monica Silva’s family left the area and headed towards Ovar, where the body of a woman was discovered in a well. After checking the facility, PPR soldiers took Fernando Valente’s mother to the post to file a complaint. The store was closed.
In November, when a suspect was arrested for murder, Monica Silva’s family confronted Fernando Valente’s parents at a flower shop.
It was in this establishment that a people’s march was stopped in December demanding to reveal the whereabouts of the body of a pregnant woman who disappeared on October 3, 2023.

The body of a woman found in a well in Ovar has raised hopes for the family of Monica Silva, the woman who disappeared more than three months ago in Mourtos. Mother, sister and aunt quickly descended to the ground and could not hide their excitement. Celeste Barbosa, the missing woman’s mother, cried several times as she faced the possibility that the body found there was her daughter’s. The family was joined by dozens of members of the public, united in the hope of ending this sadness.
