The cost of the UEFA solidarity mechanism allows the FPF to distribute 13 million euros

For the 2024/25 season, the distribution model of the UEFA Solidarity Mechanism will double, meaning that the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) will distribute €13 million to Portuguese clubs.

According to the FPF, the decision to increase the amount (from four to seven percent) was taken by the European Competitions Committee and the UEFA Executive Committee in September 2023 and, in the case of Portugal, represents a doubling of the funds that Clubs not participating in the group stages of European competitions received payments for last season.

Last week the FPF made a payment and released €6.5 million of training funding to clubs as part of the UEFA Solidarity Fund.

Benfica, Porto, Sporting and Sporting de Braga were left out as they reached the group stage of the European competition – the same happened this season – so each of the remaining 30 professional clubs received an amount of 219 thousand euros.
