The city of Leiria will be reinforced with 13 CCTV cameras in addition to the current 19 during the League Cup finals, Deputy Superintendent Abel Batalha said on Monday, adding that the security apparatus includes elements of all the police skills of the command of Leiria, Lisbon, Braga and a special police unit.
Abel Batalha was speaking at the presentation of the security plan for the event, which will see thousands of fans flock to Leiria to watch Braga play Sporting on Tuesday and Benfica play Estoril on Wednesday. These are “high risk level 1” games and the final will take place on Saturday. “We expect full houses for all games,” said Roberto Dominguez, director of security for the Portuguese League, urging people to “come early.”
