José Luis Carneiro has been confirmed as head of the PS list in Braga, in accordance with the proposal of Secretary General Pedro Nuno Santos. Negotiations with the Minister of Internal Affairs and the losing candidate in the PS primary elections continued until this Tuesday.
“José Luis Carneiro accepted the invitation made to him a few days ago to again lead the list from Braga. He made the acceptance of this candidacy conditional on a complex of efforts, dialogue and consultations between representatives of the candidates, in order to ensure the inclusion of political figures of great civic value and public recognition,” said a source of the former candidate in the Lusa agency.
“Although there are questions that could not be answered before the meeting of the National Secretariat [começou ao fim da tarde de hoje]these efforts and pluralism are recognized,” he added.
The PS National Political Commission meets Tuesday evening to approve the final version of the party’s lists of parliamentary candidates for the March 10 early legislative elections.
