PS candidate lists for the March 10 early legislative elections were approved by the National Political Commission with 84% of the vote, the party said on Tuesday.
According to a note sent by the PS to the media, the set of PS lists for 22 constituencies “was approved with 84% votes in favor, 13% abstentions and 3% votes against,” receiving “only 3 votes against a total of 86 voters.”
According to the same note, “compared to 2022, the PS presents itself in elections with a wide renewal of list leaders (about 50%) and maintaining the mark of gender equality (45%, i.e. 10 heads of lists are women). )”.
PS Secretary General Pedro Nuno Santos said the vote of the list leaders demonstrates the party’s pluralism and an attempt to combine the new with the heritage of the past.
“There was never any intention to break with the past. We have reconciled the past with the new,” he said in statements to reporters.
