This Wednesday, Estoril Praia reached the final of the Football League Cup for the first time, beating Benfica 5–4 on penalties after a 1–1 draw after 90 minutes.
In Leiria, Rafik Gitane gave the Canarinhos the lead in the 16th minute and Nicolás Otamendi equalized in the 58th minute for the Reds, who missed two of the six penalties they had against just one error from Estoril.
In the final, scheduled for Saturday, Estoril Praia, which made its debut in the decider, will face Sporting de Braga, which eliminated Sporting 1-0 on Tuesday.
