Gianluca Prestianni strengthens Benfica until 2029

Argentine striker Gianluca Prestianni was officially announced this Wednesday as a reinforcement for Benfica, on the day that the player, long considered a future player of the Eagles, turned 18 years old, having signed a contract with the national champion until 2029.

Regarded as one of Argentine football’s most promising prospects, Prestianni arrived at Luz from Velez Sarsfield, the club where he trained and rose to the top flight in 2022, having already played 33 games last year and scored three goals.

“18-year-old striker Prestianni is a reinforcement of the professional football team Sport Lisbon and Benfica. The Argentinean moved to the club from Velez Sarsfield and signed a contract valid until 2029, becoming the new owner of the number 25 shirt,” Benfica said in a statement.

Speaking on television on a Lisbon channel, Prestianni said that he did not hesitate in choosing Benfica, for whom he wants to do everything possible to “win everything”.

“I am very happy to play for such a big club as Benfica. It is a dream to play in Europe, and especially for this great club. When this news reached me [do interesse], I didn’t hesitate and now I’m here. Benfica is the biggest club in Portugal and a very big club in Europe. “I know the club is fighting for a lot and we will do everything we can to win everything,” he said.

Adapting to the “group and team style of play” is important for the young striker, who defines himself as “a player who enjoys facing opponents and going one-on-one.”

“I hope to grow in the best possible way and stay close to my colleagues. Then when it’s time to play, I want to do my best,” he said.

He has since discussed the possibility of sharing a dressing room with compatriots Otamendi and Di Maria, world champions Argentina, in 2022 and was also excited about playing at the Estádio da Luz.

“These are two world champions, two outstanding players. I’m glad to share the locker room with them and that they can help me. I have never been to a club with such a stadium and for me it is something fascinating,” he concluded.

The Argentine became the fourth reinforcement of the national champions in this winter market after the signing of striker Marcos Leonardo (ex-Santos), defender Alvaro Fernandez, who was loaned from Manchester United to Granada, and striker Benjamin Rollheiser. loan from students.
