Sporting president Frederico Varandas said on Tuesday that the Leonin club wants to go first to play Famalican, a match that was postponed due to a lack of police activity, dismissing a “conspiracy” by the PSP.
“We do not engage in PSP conspiracies or wild conspiracy theories against the club. Because they are not true, and because they keep us from being clear and focused on the mission that is winning. We have already set the goal: to reach the date of this game, not so much the game as the first one,” said the leader of the “green and white” before the SAD general meeting in Lisbon.
The game between Famalicao and Sporting, scheduled for last Saturday, February 3, at 18:00, was postponed to a date to be determined due to the absence of the police, in a context in which the Public Security Police (PSP) demands better conditions. work.
It was one of three matches postponed over the weekend, the only one in Ligue 1, with Ligue 2 “losing” to Leixões Nacional and Feirense Academico de Viseu on Sunday.
“It is known that the security forces, namely the PSP, are protesting. Sporting had the misfortune of being the first big players to play that weekend. The PSP had such a protest mood and acted with a factor of surprise,” Varandas analyzed.
According to the leader, this “dissatisfaction” was not repeated at the remaining meetings, since “the government had time to take precautions.”
Sporting, Famalican, the league wanted the game to take place. She was not present the next day, as required by the rules, because the Deputy Superintendent of PSP considered that there were no conditions to guarantee policing,” the President said.
As such, the club hopes to be the first to attend this meeting when it is rescheduled “whether it’s March, April or May.”
Regarding Tuesday’s extraordinary general meeting, held at 18:00 at the José Alvalade stadium, Varandas noted “historic preparations at the end of a long chapter, which, fortunately for Sporting fans, ended in the best possible way”, in this case with the official publication “converting VMOC into shares, allowing Sporting to acquire 88% of SAD shares.”
This extraordinary general meeting of SAD was convened to discuss, among other things, authorization for the issuance of one or more bond issues to the board of directors totaling up to €50 million.
