Leiria’s PSP decreed an “exceptional mobilization of human resources” for the Portuguese Cup game

The PSP Leiria district commander issued a decree on the “exclusive mobilization of human resources” for the Unio de Leiria-Sporting game and the Portuguese Cup, rejecting layoffs and allowing the hiring of off-duty agents.

In a service order entitled “Implementation of a major event,” Leiria PSP commander Domingos Urbano Antunes explains that the Portuguese Cup game may “require exceptional management of payroll schedules,” therefore “exceptional mobilization.” human resources.

The commander lists four “exceptional situations,” namely “non-granting of exemptions from paid duty,” “possibility of escalation on a day off,” “opportunity to rest for only one hour or after normal working hours and paid duty,” and “appointment appointment.” non-volunteers.”

According to the memo, which Luza had access to, the commander justifies these measures on the basis of “increased responsibilities within the scope of his functional competencies, to which he must respond effectively and professionally.”

In a response sent to Lusa, the national leadership of the PSP states that “the issuance of this type of exceptional directive is common, especially when sporting events or events of other nature requiring large-scale police supervision are being held.”

“Also, this type of measure is often resorted to during vacation periods and in situations where, due to high operational activity, there are not enough personnel to support police activities. There is already little of it in the command itself, these kinds of measures are becoming even more repetitive,” says the PSP, clarifying that “it is usually necessary to appoint police officers to paid service who are not included in the salary scale.”

According to these security forces, some police officers volunteer for this purpose, however, when “the number of volunteers is insufficient to support policing, due to the necessity of the service and always as a last resort, police officers who did not volunteer are hired.”

In recent days, several PSP police and GNR soldiers have been injured, leading to the cancellation of the I League football match between Famalican and Sporting on Saturday, as well as other II League matches on Sunday.

Although they do not consider them a form of protest, although the platform does not suggest that this is a form of protest.

Members of the PSP and GNR staged several protests demanding an allowance identical to that given to the judicial police.

The protest began with agent Pedro Costa’s duty in front of the Assembly of the Republic in Lisbon on January 7, and then spread throughout the country.

Some MHP police and soldiers have been granted sick leave in recent days, leading to the postponement due to lack of security conditions of the Football League I game between Famalicão and Sporting on Saturday, among other unrest.
