The daily routine of Fernando Madureira, known as “Macaco”, in the prison of the Judicial Police of Porto begins early. After his first night in pre-trial detention, from Wednesday to Thursday, the manager of FC Porto’s support team Super Dragões was woken up by prison guards before 8am. Breakfast, like two other meals a day, is eaten in the cell.
The menu in this prison, as in other prisons in the country, is provided by a private company.
In addition to meat and fish dishes, Makako will offer a vegetarian dish to choose from. Prison services also allow you to follow a diet prescribed by a doctor.
However, prison sources said CM that the quality of the food is “poor”. “The company enters into an agreement with the state for each meal for prisoners, costing just over 1 euro. You can imagine the quality,” one of these sources explained.
On the other side, CM found that the “Monkey” spends most of the day (22 hours) in a cell in prison. Prison rules give the right to rest for only two hours a day.
Time spent outside the cell is at the discretion of prison guards and management. At least next week because CM news this Friday Fernando Madureira will be completely isolated from the rest of the prisoner. Recreational space in the prison attached to the Porto Judicial Police is small, and two hours of exposure to sunlight at the Macaco can even be enjoyed back to back.
Finally, it should be noted that the prison where Fernando Madureira has been held since Wednesday evening has a small room that serves as a gym. However, until he is placed with the rest of the prisoners, “The Monkey” will not have access to her.
