Autarkia has already given shelter to a heroic father who saved his daughter from a burning house in Montijo.

Since then, Louis has been in an orphanage with his three children. He is currently unemployed. The girl, who is hospitalized in the Barreiro hospital and is due to be discharged this Thursday, was saved thanks to the efforts of her father and grandmother.

The woman suffered burns to 25% of her body, but is in stable condition and is recovering at the Sao José Hospital in Lisbon. The case sparked a wave of solidarity—Louis had been widowed two months earlier—and donations poured in from all over the country.

“I can’t take anything anymore without having my own home,” said the young father, who received everything from clothes to food.
