This Monday, Porto missed a good opportunity to move closer to the lead after losing 3-2 to Arouca in a game in which the home front three burned the dragon.
In a frantic start, the Aruquens needed just 36 seconds to score against Porto through the inevitable Rafa Mujica. Jason started the game with a pass to Morlai Sylla, who asked Cristo to help Mujica head the ball. The dragons were still trying to get used to the game and were already on the ground with a powerful blow to the stomach. It wasn’t a knockout because the dragon reacted in the race and took advantage of an avoidable penalty from Robson Bambu on Evanilson. And it was the Brazilian who suffered the maximum punishment.
The Dragons took control of the match, but the Arukens were always ready to launch a counterattack. And it was in one of these games that Pepe cut the ball with his hand in the penalty area. Cristo converted the penalty to make it 2-1, despite Sergio Conceição’s desperation on Porto’s bench.
The game settled into a stop-and-response rhythm, but was always accompanied by many protests in the area. Evanilson disallowed the goal due to offside, and Mujica even scored a bomb near the post.
In the extra stage there was a natural reaction from Porto: Francisco Conceicao and Nico Gonzalez were very close to goal. But Aroca kept the dragons on alert, running from Cristo, Mujica and Jason. And it was the latter who made it 3-0, taking off Fabio Cardoso and firing past Diogo Costa.
Francisco Conceicao’s last gasp cut the score to 3-2, but did not prevent the Dragons from staying seven points behind leaders Benfica and Sporting, although the Lions have one game less. Christ brought “Mujica” for Jason to throw… a party.
