Six people died in the Ukrainian attack on Belgorod

At least six people, including a one-year-old child, were killed and 17 injured in a Ukrainian attack this Thursday in the Russian region of Belgorod, on the border with Ukraine.

A shopping center and a school playground were hit by missiles. “The worst thing happened – civilians died, one of whom was a child. The man also died in the operating room; doctors fought for his life until the end,” said the Belgorod governor.

Among the victims, four children and six adults are in serious condition. However, the attack could have had more tragic consequences. According to Russia, air defense systems destroyed 14 missiles fired by Ukraine over the region.

Despite this response to the latest Russian attacks – cruise and ballistic missiles were again fired at several regions of Ukraine early on Thursday, killing four people – Kyiv warns of increasing difficulties in the theater of operations.

The situation on the battlefield is “extremely difficult,” according to the new commander of the Ukrainian army, Alexander Syrsky, while acknowledging that Kyiv is short of men and weapons. “The Russian occupiers continue to increase their efforts and outnumber” Ukrainian forces, the general said.

On Thursday, NATO’s secretary general recalled that the US Congress’ blocking of the next support package for Ukraine has consequences on the battlefield.
