The Italian runner Elisa Balsamo (Lidl Trek) won the sprint in the last stage of the Women’s Cycling Week-Volta of the Valencian Community, in which the switzerland Marlen Reusser (SD Worx) was crowned as winner and becomes the seventh runner to win the event.
The Swiss champion has acted as the great leader of the race and, in this last stage, she has come out determined to abort the numerous escape attempts that have occurred since the start.
The victory in the last stage went to the Italian Elisa Balsamo in the sprint, ahead of the Cuban Arlenis Sierra and the also Italian from Laboral Kutxa Nadia Quagliotto.
In the general ranking, The absolute victory of this eighth edition of the Setmana Ciclista has been for Reusser (SD Worx) with 8 seconds ahead of Katarzyna Niewiadoma (Canyon Sram) who was second, completing the podium with the New Zealander Nyamh Fisher-Black (SD Worx), third, 12 seconds behind.
