A pair of thieves were arrested by the PSP of Aveiro on Thursday evening after stealing watches worth around 40 thousand euros from a jewelery store in the city centre.
At around 10:30 p.m., PSP Aveiro received an alert about a robbery at a jewelry store located in the Forum shopping center. The thieves, 22 and 24 years old, fled in a car, but were stopped by a police patrol. The approach took place on the Comandante Rocha e Cunha street.
To stop the car, agents fired several intimidating shots into the air. During the approach, the suspects resisted arrest, resulting in minor injuries.
The suspects, residents of Ovar, used a large sledgehammer to smash the glass in a shop window and stole thousands of euros worth of watches and jewelry.
A criminal investigation team was called in to investigate. A couple of robbers were taken to the PSP dungeons.
The two men will appear before a criminal judge within the next 48 hours. Based on the results of the first judicial interrogation, coercive measures will be prescribed.
