Dutch footballer Quincy Promes of Spartak Moscow was not allowed to travel with the Russian team from Dubai to St. Petersburg after being detained at border control, a newspaper reported this Friday. From Telegraaf.

The winger has been training in Dubai with Spartak Moscow in recent weeks in preparation for the new season of Russian football. Since the Netherlands has an extradition treaty with Dubai, there have been random arrests in the country at the request of Dutch authorities. Quincy Promes was expected to be able to enter and leave Dubai without any problems, despite being in a state of international alarm due to the verdict handed down in the Netherlands.
In 2023, a Dutch court also sentenced the athlete to one and a half years in prison for stabbing and “causing serious bodily harm” to his cousin’s knee during a family party in 2020.
