PAN says that PS and AD are not an alternative for the country

The PAN spokesman said this Sunday that the PS and PSD are not an alternative for the country and said that the absolute majority in the socialist government was a missed opportunity and that the AD represents a revival of the past.

“We don’t see ourselves on the agenda of the Democratic Alliance, which has in some ways led to a renaissance, both in terms of public employment opportunities and in terms of social pressing issues such as unemployment benefits for people or even in terms of gender equality “, said Ines Souza Real.

The leader also noted that António Costa’s absolute majority “was a missed opportunity for progress that the country could have made.”

“It would be very important that during the absolute majority, during this last legislative assembly that we are now closing, the PS brings measures closer to those that the PAN presented in defense of women’s human rights,” emphasized Ines Souza Real, also noting that “there is a certain rapprochement” between the PAN and the PS on some issues.

The head of the Lisbon PAN list for the legislative elections of the 10th spoke to reporters this morning on the sidelines of the election campaign in the Passeio Marítimo de Oeiras, and then headed to the initiative in the Mercado de Alges.

“What is happening is working to bring the PS closer to the measures that PAN requires, and, unfortunately, this has not always happened,” he emphasized.

The official also recalled that today marks World Wildlife Day and warned of the need to combat and stop the loss of biodiversity.

“There are many issues that PAN has sought to make progress on, be it limiting fox hunting to clubs, or ensuring ecosystem services, or even greater protection and recognition of protected areas in our country – we want to see at least 33% of them by 2030 territory classified as such. And yet, the PS squandered its absolute majority, demonstrating that a useful voice is not a useful vote, neither in the absolute majority, nor in the parties wavering in power, the PS and SDP, but in politics such as the PAN “, emphasized Ines Souza Real.

Appealing to voters, the PAN leader praised the party’s “ability to turn things around” and “break with the bipartisanship” of the nation’s two largest parties.

“The PS and PSD have already made it clear that they are not an alternative, neither in terms of human rights nor in terms of social support,” he accused, recalling comments by former Social Democratic prime ministers Aníbal Cavaco Silva and Pedro Passos Coelho.

“The revival of Cavaco Silva, when we know what it cost the country, (…) and Passos Coelho, with the help of Troika measures that went beyond what the International Monetary Fund (IMF) demanded. …We know that all these are not the solutions that the country needs,” he noted.

Regarding the news from TVI, which indicates that the Directorate of Political Accounting and Finance has found signs in Chege of non-compliance with the law on donations and a possible ban on financing in the 2019 elections, the leader considered the situation “absolutely disgraceful.”

“I remember that the protest vote in these political forces is aimed at giving more money to those who do not comply with the law, and to give more money to those who also bear civilizational failures in our country,” he said.

More than 10.8 million Portuguese are called to vote on the 10th to elect 230 members of the Assembly of the Republic.

18 political forces are competing in these elections – 15 parties and three coalitions.
