Two people arrested for illegally selling Porto Benfica football tickets

Two people were arrested for illegally selling tickets for the football match between Porto and Benfica, which took place this Sunday in Porto, the Food and Economic Security Authority (ASAE) announced.

The ASAE statement explained that both men were arrested at the scene of a crime in the capital’s Porto area while selling tickets ranging from 35 to 70 euros, while the tickets were priced at 15 euros.

During the investigation, ASAE also seized 20 tickets, seven of which were counterfeit and sold online, with the defendant accused of “forgery and fraud.”

The two detainees facing criminal charges will be required to appear in court on Monday “for a possible summary hearing.”

Selling tickets above the official price is considered a crime and is punishable by up to three years in prison, authorities warned.

The game between Porto and Benfica of the 24th round of the I Football League is scheduled for 20:30 at the Dragao stadium in Porto.
