The Public Security Police (PSP) made 531 arrests on the Portuguese mainland and in the autonomous regions of Madeira and the Azores between 23 February and 3 March.
Of the arrests made, 169 were for traffic offenses, 98 of which were for drunk driving and 71 for lack of a legal license to drive. Forty-one suspects were also arrested for drug trafficking, and more than 259,890 individual doses were seized.
The PSP also detained 62 suspects in property crimes such as theft, robbery and fraud. Agents seized 18 firearms and 24 bladed weapons, some of which were recovered after 13 arrests were made for trafficking or possession of prohibited weapons.
Of those detained, 164 remain under judicial arrest.
