The 2025 League Cup Final Four will take place at the Dr. Magalhães Pessoa Stadium in Leiria for the fifth year in a row, the Portuguese Professional Football League (LPFP) announced this Monday on its official website.
In a note published by the organization, LPFP President Pedro Proença justified this decision by the success of previous editions held in Leiria.
“The way the city embraced and promoted this competition was extraordinary, showing that Portuguese football is very much alive,” Proença emphasized in a statement to Liga TV and reproduced on the official LPFP website.
The selection also left Leiria Football Association (AFL) president Manuel Nunez “very pleased” who expressed his wish that the 2025 Final Four would not be Dr Magalhães Pessoa’s last.
Manuel Nunez said that the LPFP “realized the importance of organizing this event in Leiria” as it is “a city with the best conditions due to its location and organization” and “a lover of football.”
The last four League Cup Final Four matches have been played at the Estadio Doc Magalhães Pessoa in Leiria, with the last match outside the city of Lys taking place in the 2019/20 season at the Estadio Municipal. Braga.
This season’s trophy was won by Sporting Braga in January in the final, in which Minho’s side beat Estoril Praia in a penalty shootout.
