Alano Silva, the last defendant found guilty of the Alcochete Academy invasion, who was not included in the original case because he was not arrested along with the other 43 defendants, was sentenced by the Almada court to five years’ suspended imprisonment.
Friday’s ruling also resulted in the defendant being sentenced to 200 hours of community service and banned from attending sports venues and team support organizations.
The group of judges who tried him considered 13 of the 19 crimes related to causing harm to physical integrity with which the defendant was accused, as well as a threat crime, proven.
Alano Silva, we recall, was one of the members of the Juventude Leonina sports fan base who, on May 15, 2018, fled from the Alcochete Academy after beating the players, coaches and directors of the white-green club. On July 9 of the same year, when the PPR were arrested for breaking into the academy, Alano Silva had already fled to Angola.
According to the prosecutor’s office, Alano Silva was the number two of Juve Leo, reporting directly to the leader Mustafa, who is already serving a sentence for robberies in Sintra prison.
The indictment also mentions that the accused was active in the WhatsApp groups where the Academy invasion was staged, and even suggests that the invaders wore “balaclavas” to hide their identity. He also called for attacks to be carried out in locker rooms rather than on playing fields.
Alano Silva was arrested in 2019 in Angola and extradited to Portugal, where he now faces this sentence. He was released pending final sentencing.
