‘Game of Squid’ star found guilty of sexual assault

South Korean court in Suwon renders verdict actor Oh Yeon-soo, star of the first season of “Squid Game,” received eight months probation for two sexual assault charges dating back to 2017, the agency announced this Friday. Reuters.

Prosecutors had asked for a year in prison for the actor, who was indicted in 2022. The court also sentenced him to 40 hours of participation in a sexual assault treatment program.

Leaving the court, 79-year-old Oh Yong-soo told reporters of his intention to appeal the decision.

In 2022, he became the first South Korean actor to win the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role as Oh Yi-nam in Squid Game. Controversy over sexual harassment allegations led to Oh Yeon-soo’s dismissal from an upcoming film in South Korea.
