Russian President Vladimir Putin won a landslide victory in this Sunday’s presidential election with 87.8% of the vote, according to an exit poll conducted by the All-Russian Center for Public Opinion Research, according to reports. Reuters.
Since Friday, people in Russia have been going to the polls to choose the country’s future president. There were votes for the position the current President of Russia Vladimir Putin – for a fifth term as head of state, Leonid Slutsky – from the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR), Nikolai Zharitonov – from the Communist Party of Russia (CPRF) and Vladislav Davankov – from the New People.
The election should keep him in power until 2030, when he will be 77, with the possibility of an additional term until 2036 due to constitutional changes introduced in 2020.
