Prisoner falls into coma after setting Pacos de Ferreira prison cell on fire

The prisoner knows that CM, he is about 30 years old, he is serving a sentence for human trafficking. He was in the security department for his role in the stabbing of another inmate.

On Saturday afternoon, a cell was set on fire in a room containing 22 other prisoners and two guards. They were the ones who pulled him out of the cell with burns and smoke inhalation. He went to the São João hospital in Porto and was later transferred to the Penafiel hospital.

He was in an induced coma on Sunday. This was reported by an official source in the Penitentiary Service. CM that “the prisoner ignited the cell mattress and the fire was immediately discovered and extinguished by appropriate means.”
