An infant survivor of a fatal accident in San Francisco, in the United States of America, which claimed the lives of Portuguese woman Matilda Ramos Pinto, 40, and her husband, died this Wednesday. Diego, 38 years old and Joaquin, the couple’s eldest son, is about one year old. Confirmation of the death was given by Supervisor Myrna Melgar and San Francisco Police Chief Bill Scott, citing San Francisco Standard.

The baby, about two months old, also the couple’s son, was hospitalized, but did not suffer serious injuries.

Diego and Joaquin died immediately after they were hit by 78-year-old Mary Fong Lau, who was driving the wrong way and speeding, this Saturday. Matilda Ramos Pinto was pronounced dead at the hospital.

At the time of the incident, the family was at a bus stop waiting for transport to go to the San Francisco Zoo to celebrate the couple’s wedding anniversary.

Driver Mary Fong Lau was arrested this Monday for homicide while driving, negligent driving, reckless driving with injury, wrong-way driving and driving over the legal limit. The woman has already reacted. The statement, signed by the woman’s lawyer, said the woman was cooperating with authorities and asked that her privacy be respected.

“Ms Lau and her family join the community in mourning the tragic loss of life that occurred in West Portal over the weekend. We extend our gratitude to the San Francisco Police Department, the San Francisco Fire Department and all other first responders who responded. to the scene, as well as the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office for conducting a diligent and thorough investigation into the circumstances leading up to this tragic incident. Ms Lau has fully cooperated with investigators and will continue to do so. While it is clear that more information is required regarding the cause of this devastating accident, Ms. Lau and her family respectfully request privacy at this difficult time while investigators continue to gather relevant information.”
